JIM'S JOURNEY
What This Book Is About:
After leaving a career he had pursued since college Jim had a small problem; namely, what to do with his time. For Jim, this seemingly simple question would ultimately become a full-blown existential crisis leading to larger, uncomfortable questions about meaning and life. With his background in travel, Jim decided to set off on a journey around the world. To find the answers? No—to escape the questions!
Realizing at a certain point that seeing every one of the 193 countries on earth was possible, Jim set that as his new life goal.
But a funny thing happened along the way. The more Jim traveled and the more he learned about the world, the more he learned about himself. Jim’s journey to every country on the planet was a journey of discovery in a way he could never have anticipated.
At times humorous, at times touching, always philosophical, A Bigger World—part travelogue, part memoir, part vicarious adventure—is a must-read for world travelers, or those just trying to travel meaningfully through life!
Jim’s Personal & Professional Journey …
My entrepreneurial journey started in college selling low-earth space trips to people looking to the stars. While the company wasn't able to accomplish that back then, I was inspired to start my own travel business that, over the next 30 years, would take me across the world, a journey to all 193 countries. But I’ve never seen them from space…something I’ve dreamt about for decades.Currently, I’m an innovator and entrepreneurship professor teaching a new generation of students to dream bigger and bolder, to create world-changing ventures for good. After recently finishing my journey across the globe, I wrote a book documenting these life-changing experiences: Hanging with lemurs in Madagascar, snorkeling in Palau, and exploring a ship graveyard in Angola to name just a few.Reaching for the stars for me means getting this book in the hands of as many people as possible, to expand people's minds. Because that is what travel does to you. It makes your world bigger. But I also have a dream ... connecting the world through the dawn of a new era of space travel ... with one step left on my journey, the thing I tried to do so many years ago… to see our world from space.
